Calendar of Events and Activities

calendarCorporate Worship 10AM Sunday mornings
We gather together on Sunday mornings at 10AM for corporate worship. Services are typically 75-90 minutes in duration. Our worship service is family oriented--we highly encourage children and teens to participate with their parents. Our goal is to design a worship service that fosters a mulit-generational, personal and corporate expression of worship that engages both the heart and mind as we glorify the Lord. There is a nursery for infants and toddlers ages birth through fourth grades. Children should attend the first part of the worship service with their parents and will be dismissed to go with their teachers before the sermon begins. Parents are welcome to keep their younger children with them during the sermon.

Communion
We celebrate the Lord's Supper the first Sunday each month during our worship service.

MSM (Men Sharpening Men)
All men are invited to attend the MSM Group that meets on the first and third Tuesdays of every month, 6-7:15am at the Perkins at Kings Mills Road and I-71. We are working through a book called the Sermon on the Mount. Contact Pastor Kirt for more information.

Ladies Bible Study
All women are invited to attend a ladies Bible study that meets at an FBF family member's home every other Saturday morning at 10am. For more information, please contact FBF.

KIDZmin--(FBF's ministry to kids, grades 1-6)
Children's Church--Sunday mornings during the worship service (grades 1-4)

KIDZmin Bible Club--Every other Wednesday evening, 6:00-8pm. Kids are encouraged to bring friends! There will be a Bible lesson from 6:30-7:15 pm, followed by a game/recreation time and snack. Most meetings will take place at an FBF family member's house. For directions and more information, please contact FBF. Parents are welcome to stay during the meeting.

KIDZmin Summer Kickoff--Wednesday evening, June 11th

Summer Small Group Ministry
At FBF, Small Groups are developing into a core ministry of our church. This summer, due to travel and vacation schedules, we are consolidating our small groups into one group that will meet every other Wednesday, 7-9pm, starting on June 18th. Child-care will be provided. Please make it a priority to attend the small group this summer. Small groups are a great place for newcomers to FBF to build friendships and get involved in the church. Starting in the Fall we will form one or two additional groups. For more information and meeting location, please contact FBF.

“God’s Wisdom for Daily Living” …is the theme of our sermon series this summer. God has given us everything we need in His Word to lead wise lives for Christ’s glory. Sometimes summer can be a spiritually dry time. Our daily routine is interrupted by vacations, travel, summer family activities, guests who come to visit, and much more. These “interruptions” can become great excuses for not praying and spending time studying, meditating and memorizing God’s Word. This summer, don’t take a “vacation” from wisdom by neglecting your Bible study and prayer!

VBS this Summer
After talking with many of you and trying to work out the details of a VBS this summer, we have decided to wait until next summer for FBF's first VBS. As you know, we tried to arrange something with IHN to use it as an outreach, but were unable to do so. Many of you are willing to help, but can help for only a portion of the week. Others we had hoped would be involved aren't able to because of the timing.

VBS takes a lot of time, energy and work. Rather than moving forward and doing a poorly planned, poorly executed VBS, we have decided to wait and put a team together to prepare for next summer. What we would like to see by September is a team of people who are excited about VBS and willing to plan for next year. We would need someone who would be willing to head the VBS up and oversee all of its details. We also need people who are willing to take one or more of the detail areas and organize it. And of course, we need people to teach the kids!

We are asking you to pray about this and consider if you would like to be a part of the VBS ministry next summer. Please talk with Lynn Conroy who will organize a meeting for all those interested this fall just so we can talk and set a course.

Thanks to all who were willing to help with VBS this summer. We would still like to encourage any of you to invite children you know to the KIDSmin this summer on Wednesday evenings.

Upcoming Ministry and Community Events

Independence Day Fireworks - For the third year in a row, all FBF families are invited to come to Colonial Park West, in Lebanon, to listen to patriotic music and watch fireworks in celebration of Independence Day. We will all be sitting together, near the back of the park starting about 7 pm. Bring your blankets and chairs. NOTE: the Lebanon fireworks are celebrated on Thursday, July 3rd this year.

IHN Red, White and Blue Fun Run - IHN is sponsoring a 5k Fun Run and Walk for the whole family on the morning of July 4th. This is one of their major fund-raisers for the year. If you haven’t registered it’s not too late! FBF is a sponser of this year’s event.

IHN Hosting Night - FBF is hosting the Interfaith Hospitality Network families again on Monday evening, July 7th. Host families are needed from 5:30-8 pm to help provide the meal and activities for the children. Please talk to Jessica Kurtz if you would like to help. There will be a short training session at 5:30 pm at Resurrection Lutheran before the guests arrive at 6. Please be on time for this training as we have important information to pass on.

FBF Baptism and Picnic Lunch - On Sunday, July 13th, FBF will be having our first Baptism Service, following the regular morning worship service. We hope that all of our FBF families will be able to attend this joyful celebration as those who are baptized give public profession and testimony to their faith in Christ. We will meet at the Conroy’s house between 12:30-1 pm. At 1 pm we will carpool over to a nearby spot on the Little Miami river where we will have the baptism. (Those who are being baptized should wear shorts and a t-shirt. Ladies should wear a swimming suit or other appropriate attire under their shirt). After the baptism, we will go back to the Conroys for a picnic lunch. Bring your own lunch. Drinks and dessert will be provided.

Directions to Conroy’s - From FBF take Rt 42 north to Waynesville. Turn right on US 73. Take a left on Smith road immediately after crossing the Little Miami river. Take a left on Corwin Road. Come south on Corwin about a mile. Turn into our driveway (#5532) and park in the front or side of the house or on the grass along the driveway. Please don’t block the driveway so our neighbors can get in and out.

You MUST talk to Pastor Kirt in advance if you wish to be baptized.

Community-wide Outreach Concert - On Monday, July 14th, the Lebanon Ministerial Association (of which FBF is a member) is hosting a concert by Denver and the Mile High Orchestra in conjunction with the county fair. This is a free concert for all fair goers and anyone else in and around Lebanon who would like attend. (You do NOT have to purchase tickets to the fair in order to attend the concert). Following the concert there will be a “Billy Graham” style gospel presentation and alter call. Any FBF families that would like to participate as counsellors need to attend a training session being held at Urbancrest Church on Sunday, July 13th at 6 pm. This concert is a wonderful opportunity for you to invite unsaved friends or neighbors to a free concert by a top rated band where they will also clearly hear the Gospel presented.

Prayer of Jericho - In conjunction with the concert outreach, all Lebanon churches are invited to join together for prayer walks from 4:45-6:15 pm on the Sundays predeeding the concert. Anyone from FBF who would like to gather with other christians in the community to pray for the community are encouraged to attend. The group will meet in the Urbancrest Church foyer and will then go out to the fairgrounds and neighborhoods for 30-45 minutes. They will then gather again at Urbancrest for snacks and a debriefing.

FBF Missionaries - The FBF Missions Committee is pleased to report that through God’s marvelous provision, as of January 1st, FBF is formally supporting the following missionaries:

  • Adam and Joyce Kjorvestad family, serving with AIA basketball

During 2008 we hope to have as many of our missionaries as possible visit and share their ministries with our FBF family. Please keep our FBF missionaries in prayer.

Making Prayer a Priority - The Leadership Team of FBF prays for you regularly! Please take time to fill out the Record of Fellowship on Sunday mornings so that we can be praying specifically for all of our FBF families. We would also ask that each of you be in prayer for FBF.
